Most professional organizations have associations devoted to networking and growing their memberships, and one way they do this is by offering scholarships. You can find many of these by searching the Internet using the keywords “scholarship” and your area of interest. Scholarship application deadlines tend to be later than college application deadlines.
If you think a career in nursing is in your future, you could land a scholarship of $7,500 from the Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association (http://www.forevernursing.org/undergraduate-scholarships.html).
If you’re interested in hospitality, tourism, and travel, check out tourismcares.org.
If you want to pursue conservation, check out the National Wild Turkey Federation, which has awards from $250 to $10,000. See www.nwtf.org.
There are also books that list hundreds of scholarships. I like Gen and Kelly Tanabe’s Ultimate Scholarship Book 2018.
